Orlando, City of Central Florida, has an economic development among the most dazzling in the United States. Greater Orlando, which includes the counties (district authorities) of Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake, has about 1.8 million inhabitants. In its origins, however, the mid-nineteenth century, nobody could have predicted such a future for the region. The cattle and cotton were the two main activities. Founded under the name "Jernigan" by Aaron Jernigan, a native of Georgia, who came to settle here in 1843, the town grew slowly around an army post in the U.S. based Seminole War, Fort Gatlin, until 'to its abandonment in 1849. It is named after Orlando in 1857 in honor of Orlando Reeves, an American soldier, killed by an Indian arrow in the vicinity of Lake Eola. Its official incorporation as a municipality will not however until 1875. The cotton leaves room for the citrus since the 1870s. The arrival of the railroad accelerated the growth of this industry in 1880 and growth continues until mid-twentieth century. The tourism industry is the engine for the local economy. From the early 1970s, the opening of huge theme parks around (Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios) transforms for Orlando, which became one of the most visited regions in the world. The convention industry is also contributing to the development of the city through the construction of the Orlando / Orange County Convention Center in 1983, now a conference center among the largest in the United States. Orlando's reputation as a family destination for theme parks resounds around the world and attracts visitors from around the globe. Visitors of all ages can go shopping across its other attractions, and visit museums, attend sporting events or performing arts, go to the green oasis towns and neighborhoods l 'gap with their own distinct personality. Walt Disney World created the town of Lake Buena Vista, where its empire of fantasy continues to grow. Starting at the Magic Kingdom, this wonderful world has expanded the futuristic Epcot, the Disney-MGM Studios from the entertainment world, and the Animal Kingdom in nature. Add two water parks, miniature golf, an arcade video high-tech, golf and a huge sports complex with the experience of driving race cars Richard Petty and you have almost all types of entertainment. The "Downtown Disney" offers the ultimate experience of shopping, nightlife and restaurants with the same special effects and tricks parks. The resorts have followed the growth and many of them have themes ranging from Caribbean to western and sports to music. This ancient city of cattle and citrus has become a center of entertainment and gaming taste for fun, the artificial and imaginary. The tourist center Universal Orlando with its theme park in two parts, offering shows film processed in individual experience in a way which inspires tears and screams. Meanwhile, SeaWorld Orlando brings an element of attraction to the marine scene, but not without its own sense of drama and adventure. In addition to shows with Shamu the killer whale whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals, penguins, sharks and other inhabitants of the deep, SeaWorld visitors shiver with its thrilling attractions. Discovery Cove's sister attraction, offers an ultimate experience with dolphins, including a full day of snorkeling or private beach. At Orlando, water parks, restaurants, attractions to show, balloon trips, an alligator farm and an assortment of amusement parks can be entertained without stopping. For more intellectual tastes, art museums, science or history, gardens, parks and theaters will satisfy the appetite. |
